POSITION SUMMARY
As always, we are looking for individuals with a track record of success and who are proactive, creative, client focused, hard working and energetic team players with positive attitudes. We prefer to hire attorneys with at least four years experience (preferably at a significant law firm or in a governmental setting). Our ideal hire is someone who wants to join what we hope is, or will be, the best law department in America.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Responsible for all employment litigation matters pending against MassMutual.
- Direct activities of outside counsel in litigation matters and develop litigation strategy.
- Represent MassMutual before EEOC, MCAD and CHRO in employment discrimination litigation. Draft position statements, responses to requests for information, settlement agreements, and represent company at conferences and mediations.
- Represent MassMutual in unemployment hearings.
- Participate in depositions, trials, mediations and conferences. Conduct research and prepare legal memoranda.
- Draft quarterly reports to Human Resources with updates on all employment litigation matters pending against the Company.
- Draft Litigation Risk Analyses on significant litigation matters for Human Resources and business-line clients.
- Counsel and provide training to Human Resources staff and to managers in various business areas on employment matters, including disability and leave law compliance, discipline and discharge, internal investigations, discrimination issues, policy review, and wage/hour issues.
- Work closely with Employee Relations and Human Resources department to provide helpful and timely legal advice, spot litigation risks, and manage employment issues to minimize likelihood of litigation.

Experience in federal securities law and/or insurance law, especially with regard to annuities, is a plus. Ability to manage time effectively in spite of competing priorities and deadlines is required. Candidate should possess strong research, analytical and practical problem solving skills and have excellent oral and written communicatic skills.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
- The individual in this role will provide legal support in MassMutual’s Law Division; Responsibilities will depend upon the needs of MassMutual and the candidate’s background and experience.
- This position may research legal principles and precedents, consult with outside counsel, draft and execute legal documents, gather relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods, provide work guidance to paraprofessional and support staff in developing solutions to problems presented.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

The Division of Criminal Justice is seeking candidates for potential temporary, part-time and /or full time Special Deputy Assistant State's Attorney positions.
Candidates should indicate their preference for either of the assignments listed below:

for the limited purpose of prosecuting infractions as part of a regionalized infractions adjudication program. Successful candidates may be assigned currently in Meriden , New Britain , Norwich or Rockville approximately 1 - 2 days per week and will be paid a per diem rate of $125.00 per day.

Successful candidates will be assigned as needs arise and work up to 7 hours per day, at an hourly rate of $27.0641. Candidates must be admitted to the Connecticut bar. Familiarity with Geographical Area court procedure is preferred but not required. The University of Connecticut School of Law solicits applications for an assistant/ associate clinical professor of law to serve as a supervising attorney in the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic beginning January 1, 2009. The position is subject to the Law School's policy on long-term renewable contracts for clinical faculty, which complies with ABA Standard 405(c).
An excellent academic record, significant law practice and/or clinical teaching experience, demonstrated research and writing ability, and membership in the Connecticut bar or the ability to become a member within one year of hire, are required. The ideal candidate will also have significant intellectual property experience, some transactional business-lawyering experience, and be a member of the Patent Bar. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
